UPDATE: Here are the first unboxing photos I know of other than Rohan's... They were just sent to me by Shane Trafford who lives in the UK. More photos and info coming in a few minutes.
The photos from Shane are flowing in now so I will keep adding them, and we will be doing a Q&A session here in a little while too. Everyone please be sure to thank Shane for taking time to do this for us.

Greg: Which model Adam did you buy?
Shane: pixel qi wifi , i have and android phone i use as a hotspot so i did not need 3g
Greg: Did you give the delivery guy a big hug? ;-)
Shane:lol did i hehe, he looked at me odd as i was still in me dressing gown
Greg: Were you charged any additional fees upon delivery and if so, would you mind sharing how much?
Shane:he did not charge me anything at the door and i am looking through the paperwork now and i dont see any extra charge yet
Greg: How long did it take for the update to download?
Shane: update has taken 20 mins to download
Greg: How difficult was it to install the protective screen cover that came with it?
Shane:screen that large lets just say i swore alot :)
Greg: Do you have any tips for others that may help make it easier to install?
Shane:really make sure your hands are clean and dry , also make sure the little white bits of fluff that come from nowhere are not on the protector as they cause major bubbles

1. The build looks sturdy and strong. No glare (PQ Display)
2. The default memory available is 5.54 GB. (After the first boot)
3. Yet to try any accessories.
4. The power adapter has US style pins. This is a shame for people in EU as here its mostly different. Since the adapter can work 100-240V, I guess we could use a pin converter.
5. Facebook app does not seem to connect. Have to investigate more. (Not updated adam software yet. Just out of the box)
6. I had a pin converter already and it worked great. Now adam is charging.
7. Saw the Force close window few times in different apps.
8. No market or Genesis yet. (I have just started Adam update. It’s ~82mb file. Download in progress)
9. I tried my phone SIM card. 3G worked fine. SMS also works. No phone calls.
10. It comes installed with Nimbuzz.
11. Side loading of the apps possible. I will post more later about it. Still experimenting.
If you have used an android phone before, the settings are no different so getting used to is a smooth walk.
All in all good experience so far. But there is a lag once in a while. I hope the software update will fix that.
Haven’t had sun light after I received it (I am in Netherlands where sun light seems to be a rarity in this time of the year), so can’t test the potential of the PQ screen yet.

13. Initially there was no sound in Angry Birds but a reboot helped to get sound as well.
14. Video playback with a mp4 worked fine.
15. USB drive with 640GB was not recognized. Need to see the file format of the drive. Could have been NTFS so that might explain.
16. If anyone has the latest appbrain apk, can you please pass on? I cna try appbrain as well then.
17. Till now major bugs/force closes I have seen are with:
a. Panel interface (Home screen package)
b. Browser
Both seem to be NI developed. All android core components seem to be working fine.
Will try Dolphin and Opera on it and post back results.

How to use the Mireo GPS application for the US…there is no maps sold by Mireo?
I have seen something called “Mireo Cardinale 3 Black Edition 2010 Including USA Maps”, but could find it anywhere sold in the US.
Without a US map that works with the Mireo onboard GPS on ADAM, the GPS app maybe the one of those apps that have zero value but over hyped before release :(

Hey Greg i know you have some testing you are going to be doing, but just wanted to know if you can add these also plz... some you may already plan to do. I was originally going to purchase the Archos 101 and it can do these things so i want to see how the ADAM compares.
-What file table on memory card/external hd can it read. (nfts, fat32, ext3/4)
-portal external usb powered hd, ntfs format, can it power and run it(archos 101 can)
Media share/streaming... can it stream/access your media files from a computer on a network.
Codecs and subtitles. a BIG reason for me to get the tablet is to be able to watch my anime on it, can it display subtitles from mkv's, how well can it run the most intensive mkv's out there.
Can the application storage memory be changed/resized.

This post will be a list of everyone's unboxing videos on the internet that I can find.
When I do my own videos, I will cover all the questions that people have been asking the best I can. Some will take longer to get to than others but I will try to hurry. I plan to first cover the ones that have been asked about the most, and begin with a simple unboxing followed by a series of videos to introduce people to the Adam's features and apps, etc.

nice job on the photos shane. i think karma has bit me in the butt for not sharing my unboxing with everyone. i have hooped my adam already, an hour after opening it.
i did the software upgrade and it hasn't come back. i get a yellow and red light near the power supply plug and nothing happens when i try to turn it on :(
i'll keep everyone posted as to how i get this resolved in case anyone else hits this same issue

thanks for the feedback on the light indicators but i had already read that stuff. the problem with mine is the cpu indicator is solid red and the battery indicator is solid yellow.
when i plug in the charger the batter indicator is blue indicating it is fully charged.
i will continue to charge it just to be safe but i do think i have hooped it. i've sent an email to notion ink for feedback so will let you all know

Looks like Shane got a power supply charger with a US style plug. Does he have a converter adapter for it to work in the UK?
I also saw Ganesh's adam only had CE marking on it. I don't know whether FCC marking is also there on the ones shipped to Europe. Maybe either Shane or Ganesh could respond to these questions.

Internet speed is low atm it seems it never ends -_-
I personally feel the wrong plug type shouldn't really matter. People who are still waiting for their adam (in UK and rest of Europe) better be prepared to get a US to UK/Europe plug adapter. Remember HP are well known to ship their printers without a USB cable. Manufacturers of Bluray players do not ship with a HDMI cable (I paid £20 extra to get a HDMI cable a year back from a Panasonic showroom). A minor fly in the ointment which NI could have avoided. An adapter costs zilch in China.

As one person already wrote, it's nice to see pics from a source other than NI. For me it feels more real and exciting. I especially like the close ups of the owners' manual and the side inputs with the power lights ON. It's alive! :-)) I can't wait to see more views of other Adams. Living vicariously (and jealously) for now but hopefully that will change soon with pre book 2.
? for Shane: is it as responsive as you thought it would be and how is the display quality?
With regard to the protective covering, dust free environment? Outside of Bob Villa's workshop, does that even exist :-)) I have a cat and a dog, I think I'm in trouble!

Is anyone else having trouble with the notification bar getting in the way of the top of the screen? Also i couldnt get the enter key to work in thenlocation bar of the browser. It would just move the cursor to the google input box.

Things I've tried which work:
I installed the Google Maps app backed up from my phone (running CM6) using Astro.
Things I'vr tried which didn't work:
Kindle. Always says it can't find an internet connection, whether or not Browser can.
Google books. Wants a Google account, no way to activate one.
HTC IME (Sense-clone) keyboard. Just crashes.
Location in Google Maps. Says it's not available.
that sounds like the custom code in the adam is not working properly with other apps? hope this isnt the reason? cant find internat and cant find GPS?
Could it be Google Services Framework not supported as it seems strange you cannot activate google account?(or is it "you" cannot, and not the Adam the cannot?)
Just thought, in android 2.2 there is an account activation and sync utility if I recall correctly, or it's named something similar. Should be able to add an account in that if you can find it?
Funny stuff. I think it's that the framework isn't installed. I haven't tried yet because I didn't know I would need it to read sh ebook.

Setting the clock also seems to have convinced FB to connect.
has anyone see/used the screen spray that comes with a ZAGG skin ... i used on my wife's phone and it seemed to help the process ... it sort does 2 things ... helps keep fingerprints off and allows some minor movement of screen as bubbles are pushed out ... might come in handy for the adam screen protector assuming you decide to put it on ... greg thanks for all your hard work on this site ... looking great!

a simple tip for applying screen protector. use a credit card covered with microfiber cloth. wipe screen from the center to any bubble and off to the nearest edge

my video of adam. I installed ADWLauncher on adam and it works find. until the XDA developers get their hand on this device, i will miss a lot of google experience. but overall with ADWLauncher, it's pretty cool device.
